Your dentist will give you specific instructions on how to avoid disturbing the clot, including how to keep the site clean to prevent an infection. You may experience swelling and soreness for 24 to 48 hours; your dentist will advise you have to relieve the discomfort.

Will Tooth Extraction Healing Take a Long Time?

If you rest for 24 hours after the procedure and follow your dentist’s instructions for aftercare, a simple extraction will heal in seven to 10 days. Surgical extractions typically heal in two to three weeks.
