Tooth Crowns in North Point

When cavities have damaged your teeth, it’s important to know that there is a solution. Our high-quality tooth crowns can help you repair your teeth and enjoy a pain-free smile.

What Is a Tooth Crown?

A tooth crown in North Point is a tooth-shaped cover that is placed over an existing tooth or dental implant. Crowns are occasionally called dental caps because they serve as a tooth cap that covers the damaged tooth all the way down to the gums. Your dentist may recommend a crown if your tooth is so damaged that a filling can’t repair it. Crowns can hold cracked sections of a tooth together or act as a cap after a root canal. They can also be used to improve the look of your teeth if they are discolored or misshapen.

Where Can I Receive Dental Crowns?

When you suspect that a crown is necessary, you may wonder what type of dentist can provide you with treatment. However, the dental crown procedure is a considered a routine service much like cleanings or fillings. If you’re suffering from a decayed or injured tooth, call us now to learn more about our dental crown options.

What Are the Options for Dental Crowns?

Our dentists offer several varieties of crowns to meet your dental health needs and budget. These crowns can be made-to-order in a dental lab or prefabricated for immediate use. Here are some of the permanent crown options provided by our office:

Ceramic Crowns

With a ceramic crown, you’ll enjoy durability and a realistic look. This is the most common material used for a front tooth crown, as it tends to blend seamlessly with the color of natural teeth. While ceramic crowns can occasionally be brittle under a heavy bite, most patients can wear them without major problems.

Porcelain Crowns

A porcelain crown is created by fusing porcelain to metal. These crowns tend to be more durable than the ceramic variety because they’re affixed to a metal structure. With a porcelain crown, you’ll receive the benefit of a strong seal that prevents future decay and leakage.

Gold Tooth Crowns

A gold crown tooth is composed of gold or a gold alloy. Like a porcelain crown, a gold crown typically isn’t prone to leakage. Gold crowns are less prone to corrosion and extremely fracture-resistant.

What Should You Expect When Getting Tooth Crowns?

Getting a new dental crown usually takes place over two visits; however, any dental preparatory work like root canal therapy must be completed before crowns are placed.

During your first visit, the dentist will examine the damaged tooth to determine if a crown is the best solution. Then, he or she will file down the tooth and create an impression for your final crown. You’ll wear a temporary crown until the permanent one is complete. An additional appointment will be necessary for the dentist to fit and adjust your permanent crown.

How Much Does a Dental Crown Cost?

The type of crown selected largely determines your final charges. Please check with your insurance provider before receiving treatment. You can also call our office to discover our dental discount plans and financing options.

How Do I Care for a Dental Crown?

Most crowns for teeth last approximately seven years. However, with regular dental checkups and good oral hygiene, your tooth crown can last for up to 40 years. Schedule your next dental exam by giving our office a call.
