Porcelain Crowns in Woodstock, GA
Expert restoration for broken, worn or decayed teeth.
Crowns are a common way to restore teeth to their natural shape, size, appearance and strength. These tooth-shaped “caps” are typically used when there is too little remaining tooth to hold a filling. To restore the natural tooth shape, your Hickory Flat Dental dentist will fit and cement a crown onto your existing tooth to serve as its new surface. Your new crown will encase the entire visible tooth above the gum line.
Although crowns can be made of metal, porcelain or a combination of both materials, porcelain crowns are more commonly used since they most closely match the look and feel of your natural teeth.
Regardless of the material or materials used, the preparation for and placement of your crown usually requires two visits. On the first visit, we will make an impression of the problem tooth. The impression will then be sent to the lab, where the technician will use it to sculpt a crown uniquely suited to your jaw and bite. In some cases, you may be fitted with a temporary crown while the permanent one is custom manufactured.
During your second visit, your Hickory Flat Dental dentist will fit the crown over your existing tooth and permanently cement it. Once in place, you should regain the full function of your original, undamaged tooth.
Natural looking teeth restoration.
While crowns can be made of many different materials, porcelain most closely matches the strength and translucency of your natural teeth. Your porcelain crown will be fabricated from your unique tooth impression and custom sculpted in the lab. Your Hickory Flat Dental dentist will then cement the crown onto your existing tooth above the gum line. The goal is to achieve normal function and movement while closely matching your existing teeth for a natural appearance.
